Siberian Larch Wood Decking

Siberian larch is a premium wood decking product that performs well in our Toronto climate.  This decking material is priced lower than the hardwood decking materials from Brazil and it is a great option for those looking for a long lasting decking material in a lower priced range.

As its name implies, this decking material comes from Siberia.  Larch is a very common wood species that grows in North America and Europe, however what makes the Siberian Larch different from other larch species is the fact that a colder climate produces higher density wood that is very resistant to rot and decay.  The density of the Siberian Larch decking is roughly double that of Western Red Cedar Decking.  The typical grade of knotty cedar that is available from major retailers across Toronto is mostly fresh growth trees that do not perform very well long term.  It is not uncommon for us to see 10 year old cedar decks already starting to rot and decay.   Siberian Larch on the other hand has a proven track record in northern European countries like Germany, Findland, the UK and it is proved to last 30 or more years.

Siberian Larch has long been known for its endurance and for this reason the posts that are submerged in water in Venice are made of Siberian Larch as well as the railway bridges for the Trans Siberian railway remain standing to this day.

Deckstoronto is working directly with Siberian Larch decking manufacturers to bring this material to Canada.  These decking products have been on sale on the US market for over 10 years and for the past 3-4 years Siberian Larch Decking has been becoming a popular alternative to cedar decking in Canada.

The profiles that we carry in Siberian larch are 5/4x6, but the actual thickness is actually 28 mm which is thicker than 1”.  The lengths that are available in Siberian larch are 4 meters and 6 meters.   We also provide expert advice on how to install Siberian larch decking.
